Monday, June 22

Admission and self-guided audio tour of The Breakers Mansion, considered the grandest of Newport's "summer cottages". Built as the summer estate of Cornelius Vanderbilt II, the mansion features 70 rooms, a 2½ story central Great Hall, and rare marble, alabaster and gilded wood throughout.

Enjoy a driving tour of Newport's two famous scenic routes: Bellevue Avenue lined with magnificent mansions built by summer residents the Astors, the Vanderbilts and other Gilded Age leaders of industry and society who hosted elaborate entertainments at their "summer cottages", and Ten Mile Ocean Drive where you will view waterfront estates and enjoy un-paralleled ocean views!

Lunch is included in the charming village of Bristol, overlooking the ocean.
Touring continues this afternoon in Bristol. Learn about Bristol's role in the Revolutionary War and about the local ship building industry. See the unusual red, white & blue traffic line down the center the street, testimony to the fact that Bristol boasts the oldest Independence Day Celebration in the United States! Drive through Colt State Park and enjoy the sweeping views of Narragansett Bay.

Return to Newport. Free time for to explore Newport on your own. Enjoy the shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and elegant yachts along the harbor!
Dinner is on your own, with many restaurants to choose from. Guide departs.

Relax on a narrated cruise of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay and experience the spectacular scenery, fair winds and deep bay that draw sailors and cruise ships from all over the world! See historic Fort Adams, ocean front mansions, sailing ships and yachts of all sizes and many points of interest!

Depart with your local guide for a driving tour through scenic, coastal Rhode Island to Point Judith.
Ferry cruise to Block Island. (1 hour each way)
Upon arrival, meet an island bus and driver for a narrated driving tour of Block Island, "the Bermuda of the north", known for great beaches, wildflowers, miles of stonewalls and rolling terrain. See Victorian Old Harbor and stop for photos at the cliffs of Mohegan Bluffs, and at South East Light!
Luncheon is included on the island, weather permitting overlooking the harbor.
Free time to shop and explore Block Island.
Dinner is on your own and free time to enjoy downtown Newport.
